Your privacy matters to us — especially at a site focused on protecting it. This policy explains what information CreditSecurity ("we," "us," "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using creditsecurity.net (the "Service"), you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: We collect minimal information, never sell your data, use it only to provide and improve the Service, and give you control over what you share.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
When you take the Identity Theft Risk Assessment or join our waitlist, you may provide:
- Email address — when you sign up for the waitlist or unlock your full report
- First name — optional, used to personalize your report and emails
- Assessment responses — your answers to the 7 risk assessment questions
We never ask for sensitive personal information like Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or government IDs.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Service, we automatically collect limited technical data through standard web analytics:
- IP address (used only for spam prevention and general region statistics)
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on the Service
- Referring website
Cookies and similar technologies
We use minimal cookies to remember your assessment session and to measure basic site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the Service will still work but some features may be limited.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the assessment and deliver your personalized risk report
- Send your report and any emails you've opted into
- Improve the assessment and the Service based on aggregated patterns
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.
We share limited information only with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service, including:
- Email delivery providers (such as GetResponse or MailerLite) — to send your reports and waitlist updates
- Hosting providers — to securely host the website and data
- Analytics providers — to understand aggregated, non-identifying site usage
These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, to investigate fraud, or to protect the safety of any person.
4. Affiliate Links
The Service includes affiliate links to identity protection services such as Aura, IdentityGuard, and LifeLock. When you click these links and sign up, we may earn a commission. The affiliate provider, not CreditSecurity, collects any information you submit on their website. Their privacy policies govern that data — please review them before signing up.
See our Affiliate Disclosure for more details.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as needed to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations:
- Assessment responses and reports: retained for up to 12 months, then anonymized
- Email subscriber data: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Analytics data: retained in aggregated form indefinitely
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your data at any time
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link at the bottom of any email
- Opt out of analytics tracking
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@creditsecurity.net. We respond to all valid requests within 30 days.
7. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information, but you can still submit a verifiable request by emailing us at the address above.
8. EU/UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lawful basis for processing is your consent (waitlist signup, report request) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption, secure hosting, and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we work continuously to protect your data.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email if you've shared one with us. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
